Academic language therapy helps students build reading, writing, and spelling skills step by
step. The therapeutic approach provides individualized instruction, routines and exercises to
ensure mastery, and positive feedback through encouragement and success.
The International Dyslexia Association recommends remediation programs that are:

Multimodal instruction enhances learning and creates stronger memories. Multimodal therapy simultaneously incorporates:

Each concept is explained thoroughly and clearly.
No knowledge is assumed.
Guided practice is incorporated through repeated instructional routines.
Corrective feedback is both positive and immediate.
Repetitive practice builds new neural networks for processing language.
Begins with the easiest and most basic elements of the language.
Progresses methodically through increasingly difficult material.
Concepts reviewed frequently to strengthen memory and promote automaticity.

Includes, phonemic awareness, sound-symbol correspondences, blending of sounds and letters into syllables, and segmenting whole words into syllables and sounds.
