Deborah is a cognitive psychologist turned certified academic language therapist. She trained in the Sounds-In-Syllables program by Sandra Dillon at the Atlantic Seaboard Dyslexia Center, and she has been in private practice as an academic language therapist for over 8 years. Deborah has assisted dyslexic students from kindergarten to college in their journey to become independent readers and writers.

What Is Academic Therapy?
Academic language therapy helps students build reading, writing, and spelling skills step by
step. The therapeutic approach provides individualized instruction, routines and exercises to
ensure mastery, and positive feedback through encouragement and success.
The International Dyslexia Association recommends remediation programs that are:

• Explicit
• Systematic and cumulative
• Diagnostic and Responsive

Multimodal instruction enhances learning and creates stronger memories. Multimodal therapy simultaneously incorporates:
